I often get asked how to set the sounds on a BlackBerry for our apps, such as our Timer/Stopwatch or Preset Timer. In a previous post, I described how to modify your sound profile in OS 7, which is similar to OS 6 as far as sound profiles. In this post, I’ll describe how to create your own sound profile.
Here’s an example using OS 7 on a 9930. I’ll create a new sound profile called “No Phone” where the phone sounds are off, but the Vorino Timer sounds are enabled. This profile would be handy for meditation.
First, click on the small speaker icon in your home screen. You can instead click the larger speaker icon with your apps.

Then click on Change Sounds and Alerts.
Click on Profile Management.
This will show your list of sound profiles.
Now click Add Custom Profile.
Enter your new profile name. In this example, I’m calling it “No Phone”.
Click on Phone (below Phone – Ringtones) to edit the sound profile settings for the phone.
In this example, I’m making the phone silent.
Save you settings and edit the other entries such as for the text messages under Messages – Notifiers.
Now go down to Other Applications – Notifiers and expand the selection. This is where you’ll find the entries for the Vorino apps.
Scroll down to the Vorino entries, then click to select.
Set the volume and other settings, then save your new settings. Do the same for the other Vorino entry (there’s two entries for most of our apps). Then save.
Once you have your new sound profile, click on the small speaker in the home screen, then click on your new profile name to activate it. And that’s it!
